About Pivotal Newburgh

Every day Fred and Nora walk by picking up other people's trash, making the neighborhood better for everyone. City government and management are asking real questions, listening, considering, then responding with depth.

A new energy can be felt in Newburgh. Seems "potential" is transitioning to "no-going-back-change." Why? Who? Who else is laboring, investing, engaging the city to help make it better? Who else is being effective?

What I have discovered in Newburgh, a city that was a great city, a city of industry, innovation, arts, extraordinay architecture... a city that has been down on its knees for too long, that today there are many people of quality and diversity that are working to bring real change, progressive change. Like standing in a spring garden, the unacquainted only sees dirt. But kneel down. Look closely. The dirt is seeded soil and it's a much different story. Newburgh's "garden" has become filled with outstanding people, many who are volunteers, that are working to help Newburgh rise up once again.

We are surrounded by beauty, teased by history and the promise of what could be. Adversity for many creates challenge. Some efforts are small, seemingly insignificant, but lay down a foundation on which to build again. Some efforts are major contributions.

The portraits of those included are just a keyhole view of the hundreds of people in Newburgh whose contributions are helping to rebuild the city. To photograph everyone that is contributing would be a mountainous task. To present a story well told I researched, "met with,"and cross-referenced, to create a group of portraits that represent a face of Newburgh today: diverse, intelligent, engaged, accomplished, buoyant,..

Collectively we are bringing success, shifting reality and changing perception. It may be a minor singular addition that tips the scale but all before and to that point are:
